Welcome to The Autistic Educator CEU/CME portal—a learning space designed to equip medical and mental health professionals with the tools to provide autism-informed, trauma-aware, and neurodiversity-affirming care.

All trainings are created and facilitated by Kristen Math, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC-S), Certified Autism Specialist, and board-certified provider of continuing education. With dual graduate training in molecular biology and counseling psychology, Kristen brings a rare blend of clinical insight, scientific rigor, and lived experience as an autistic adult and parent of two autistic children.


CEU Credentials

All courses are:

  • Board-approved for continuing education credit (CEUs) for mental health professionals
  • Eligible for submission for CME (Continuing Medical Education) credit where applicable*
  • Designed in compliance with trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and ADA-aligned learning frameworks

1. Autism-Informed Care in Medical Settings

Audience: Physicians, nurses, PAs, front office and support staff
Credits: 1.5–3 CMEs
Learn how to recognize, respect, and adapt care for autistic individuals in clinical and hospital settings. Topics include sensory accessibility, communication needs, trauma-aware practice, and diagnostic bias.


2. Autism and Trauma: Understanding Complex Intersections

Audience: Therapists, social workers, psychologists
Credits: 2 CEUs
Explore how trauma manifests differently in autistic individuals, how masking complicates diagnosis, and why trauma-informed care must be neurodivergent-affirming.


3. Beyond the DSM: Ethical Diagnosis and the Neurodivergent Client

Audience: Psychologists, assessors, counselors, clinical supervisors
Credits: 1.5 CEUs
Examine the limitations of traditional diagnostic models, the gendered history of labels like BPD, and ethical, culturally responsive approaches to identifying and supporting neurodivergent clients.


4. Autism Across the Lifespan: Supporting Autistic Adults in Practice

Audience: Primary care, psychiatry, mental health professionals
Credits: 2 CMEs
This course highlights the challenges autistic adults face in medical and mental health systems, with strategies for improving access, autonomy, and affirming support.
